Looking to challenge yourself physically and mentally? Look no further! Learn to Row is a must do for all parents of new rowers, and “experienced” parents to come back to perfect their skills, and try again! Learn to Row is the perfect opportunity to experience what it is like to row, either on the water, or complete a 1k or 2K ERG piece on land (You could even compete against another parent!) It’s an experience you will not soon forget! You will come to understand what a day in the life of your rower is truly like, and why this is a program our kids love and cherish. Not to mention, this will support a GREAT high school program that teaches important team values.
Come join us for a SHS Crew fundraising event you will not forget! This event is open to participants 13 and older (Participants under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult) Participants will learn first hand the rowing techniques from SHS Crew team members on an ergometer (ERG) first, then head out onto the water in a racing shell on beautiful Lake Quinsigamond. Participants who sign up are required to have good swimming skills.
If you choose, you can stay on land and ERG (see above). Racing on land can be as much fun and just as enlightening.
Participants are required to wear proper rowing gear such as snug fitting bottoms or tight leggings.
On the water: Each racing shell will include an experienced coxswain and two seasoned SHS Crew rowers. They will be supervised by a coach in a motorized launch.
Donation: $25 for the first family member, $40 for two family members, $50 for three, and $75 for 4 family members. Checks should be made out to FOSC. Each person who signs up for either experience will receive a complimentary megaphone, lanyard, and water.
Waiver: Please complete the US Rowing waiver and bring it with you on the day of the event. Will will have extra if you forget.
