Pamela Krause, Head Coach of Girls Crew
Pam started coaching in 1976 for both the boys and girls novice teams. She then went on to become assistant coach of the boys, and in 1983 was appointed head coach of boys after her grandfather, Ken Burns, the founder of Shrewsbury Crew in 1937, passed away. She was head boys coach until retiring in the spring of 2003. She came back in the fall of 2005 when her replacement left for Florida. Pam is currently the Head Coach of the varsity boats. Pam is a physical education teacher at SHS, and has a coaching certificate from the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Association. She was the high school’s head coach of field hockey for 8 years, assistant coach of gymnastics, and a Central Mass field hockey referee for 11 years. She has also run intramural fall and summer learn to row programs for the town of Shrewsbury. Pam is also on the executive board for the QRA, and was a past president of the organization. She has been active in the QRA hosting the Eastern Sprints since the 1970’s. She was on the building committee for the DRC expansion project. She also apprenticed under Joseph Garofalo, racing shell boat-builder at Worcester Oar and Paddle.

Russell Krause, Head Coach of Boys Crew
Russell.L.Krause@Saint-Gobain.com Russ started his career in coaching in the early eighties helping out with the novices and junior varsity girls and boys, and running intramural crew programs. Russ has his coaching certificate from the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Association. He became the assistant coach to Barbara Caron, our first Shrewsbury girls crew coach, around 1985. When Barbara retired in 1994, Russ became head coach of girls crew until 2003. Russ also is a member of the board of the QRA, and has been active in course set-up for the Eastern Sprints. He also did the boat design work for the high performance single built by Joseph Garofalo, of Worcester Oar and Paddle, where he worked part time for ten years. Russ is a development engineer at St. Gobain Abrasives (since 1973), most of which has been in research and development. Russ has returned from 2006 until Spring 2008 to coach the varsity girls boats and has now taken over coaching the Boys Varsity Crew for SHS.

| Steve Moriarty – Novice Coach of Girls Crew
Steve is a Shrewsbury High School alumnae. He rowed on the Shrewsbury High School Crew team (Varsity for 3 years) and was a Captain in 1981 and 1982. He was the last Captain under the direction of Ken Burns. Over the years, Steve has coached many sports such as Softball, Babe Ruth Baseball, Parks and Recreation Basketball as well as Soccer. Steve has a coaching certificate from the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Association. Steve became the Novice Coach of the Girls Crew Team in 2007.
Coach Lindeborg – Novice Coach of Boys Crew John has a current MIAA Coaching Certificate and is certified Red Cross FA/CPR. John rowed for SHS and went on to row at Division 1 Marist College. He graduated Marist with a Cum Laude in History and Secondary Education, and a minor in Psychology. John started his coaching career at SHS as the boy’s novice assistant coach in the Fall of 2010.
