The following information has been provided by the coaches:
SHS Crew has a busy Memorial Day weekend. There are 2 races scheduled – the NEIRA Championships on Saturday and the MPSRA Spring Championship on Sunday.
Since the NEIRAs is our league’s championship regatta, teams across New England had to qualify for the 18 each Girls’ & Boys’ 1V & 2V spots, respectively, and for the 12 each Girls’ & Boys’ 3V spots. Qualifying is based on each boat’s regular season racing results.
The NEIRAs has both morning heats and afternoon finals. In the 1V & 2V events, the top 2 crews in each heat advance to the Grand Finals, the 3rd & 4th places in each heat advance to the Petite Finals, and 5th & 6th places in each heat are done for the day after the heats. In the 3V events, the top 3 in each heat advance to the Grand Finals. 4th, 5th, & 6th places are done for the day after the heats as there are no Petite Finals for the 3V events.
NEIRAs Heat Schedule for SHS Crew:
G3V – Heat 2, 9:21 am, Lane 5
G2V – Heat 2, 10:51 am, Lane 3
B2V – Heat 2, 11:18 am, Lane 5
G1V – Heat 1, 12:30 pm, Lane 4
B1V – Heat 3, 1:15 pm, Lane 6
Due to this league being a very competitive league, our Boys’ 3V, unfortunately, did not make the top 12 3V teams.
When the complete NEIRA schedule is released, we will send that along so that you can see the schedule for the Finals.
(Webmaster Note) – The NEIRA races are livestream on YouTube each year. To find this year’s race feed, go to YouTube and search for “NEIRA 2019 live stream” on race day.
The MPSRA Championship will be held in Lowell, MA (GPS Address: 500 Pawtucket Blvd, Lowell, MA) on Sunday. The team buses will be leaving the DRC/state boat ramp parking lot no later than 5:45 am. This is a long day. We can expect to be at the race course until approximately 5 pm. The final schedule has not been released yet. When it is released, we will pass that along. There is plenty of spectator parking at this race site.
As a note, on the Boys’ side, all 4 boats will be competing. On the Girls’ side, only the 4V & 5V will be competing. All team members are required to attend, regardless of competing or not.
